The TH Series was specified around that problem. Its show face is a high-gloss black coating over a fine tight grain; behind it sits a microfibre suede substrate rather than a conventional woven or felt base. Microfibre is the reason this material handles the way it does. The fibre structure is finer and more elastic, so the sheet recovers instead of creasing, stretches evenly in both directions rather than pulling along one axis, and settles into a curve smoothly. Where a stiffer sheet would need relief cuts, the TH generally does not.
A high-gloss surface is not simply a matte surface with more shine. It carries visual depth: light travels into the coating and reflects back with a slight wet-look richness, and the highlight travelling along a bolster crown or a seam ridge is what makes an upholstered seat look sculpted rather than flat. Photographed for a catalogue or seen in a showroom, gloss black registers as the more premium option, which is why it dominates sport and performance interior packages.
Gloss also carries a practical benefit. The surface is fully closed, so contaminants sit on top instead of settling into open grain, and a wipe removes them. The trade-off is honest and worth stating: a high-gloss finish shows fingerprints and dust more readily than a matte one, and it produces more window reflection in strong sun. Buyers who need a low-reflectance cabin should consider a matte finish instead — we produce both, and we will say so rather than sell you the wrong one.
